An Important Election is Coming; Vote411.org Is Ready for Texas Voters!

*Thanks to TEV partner, League of Women Voters of Texas, for this week’s important voter update about the May 7th elections.

In addition to many local elections to be held across Texas, on May 7th, Texans will again be asked whether to amend their Constitution. The Voters Guide and the online interactive version of the Guide, VOTE411.org, are ready to explain the two proposed amendments in plain language and present unbiased arguments for and against each.

To create the Special Constitutional Amendment Voters Guide, each proposition was researched and written by League volunteers.  We strive to create balanced and fair coverage of the proposed amendments by reviewing enabling legislation, using a variety of resources, and reaching out to authors and/or sponsors, supporters and opponents. This invaluable, unbiased tool gives Texans what they need to confidently participate in our state government.

Here are the League of Women Voters of Texas YouTube videos that explain each proposed amendment.

VOTE411.org

VOTE411.org lets Texas voters:

· Enter their address to see the propositions on their ballot.

· If there is a local League in the area, voters can also see information on races and candidates on their ballot, compare candidate qualifications, responses to questions about key issues for their office, and find out about candidate forums being held in their community.

· Get information to help them vote, including updated information on voter registration, vote by mail, in person voting and assistance with voting.

· Create a personalized ballot to print out and take to the polls since the use of mobile devices is not allowed in the voting booth.

“Through voter education, the League continues to help Texans overcome obstacles presented by the changes in election laws in Texas. As we saw in the March 1st Primary Election, voters really need more information to help them navigate the voting process before heading to the polls. VOTE411 is a trusted, nonpartisan online election resource for ALL Texans to use.” said Grace Chimene, President of the League of Women Voters of Texas.

Voters Guides

In addition to VOTE411.org, a PDF version of the 2022 Special Constitutional Election Voters Guide that can be viewed or printed at home is at lwvtexas.org

· the League of Women Voters of Texas must be credited for producing the Voters Guide.

The League encourages everyone to share VOTE411.org with friends and family so that ALL Texas voters can be INFORMED voters!
