Revised Runoff Election Dates

Revised Runoff Election dates

First of all, we want to give a great big thank you to Texas educators who are demonstrating their resilience and flexibility as they pivot to meet the needs of students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a challenging time for all of us and educators are revising lesson plans, virtually reaching out to students, and continuing to be role models for the over 5.4 million Texas public school students. Thank you for always thinking about the kids!

In response to the pandemic, the governor has issued two election related proclamations. One delays the Primary Runoff Elections from May 26th to July 14th and the other allows municipalities to postpone local elections scheduled for May 2nd until November. These Texas Tribune articles explain these decisions and delve into how COVID-19 is affecting candidates and the electorate during this important election cycle. There are many unknowns that will be resolved in the coming weeks and months, and we will keep you abreast of changes to the election process and cycle.
